But what can you do to keep your convertible top in good condition for those days when you need some shade? Give it some UV protection.
UV protection keeps your cloth or vinyl convertible top from degrading from the suns harmful rays, preventing fading, cracking and stitch deterioration.
Most auto manufacturers recommend tops should be treated with a ultra-violet protection a minimum of 2 times a year, but much depends on how often the car is washed as well as how much the car spends in the sun.
However, here in Arizona we think three to four times a year is a better bet with the increased exposure to the sun and extreme heat we enjoy.
